Playhouse Square has officially announced its 2026-27 KeyBank Broadway Series and it may be the strongest lineup the venue has put together in recent memory. Seven shows are set to grace the stage from this fall all the way through the summer of 2027, giving Cleveland theatergoers an embarrassment of riches to look forward to — and season ticket packages are already on sale now at playhousesquare.org/broadway.
The season kicks off in a big way with Death Becomes Her running September 12 through October 3, 2026. Cleveland gets the honor of hosting the national tour launch of this Tony Award-winning musical comedy, based on the beloved 1992 film. It follows a famous actress and her frenemy who go to outrageous lengths — including a mysterious secret potion — to stay beautiful forever. After that comes the timeless Mamma Mia (January 5-24, 2027), the feel-good ABBA jukebox classic that has been delighting audiences for over 25 years.
February brings Boop! The Musical (Feb. 2-21, 2027), a splashy new show following Betty Boop as she escapes her black-and-white world for the colorful streets of New York City. Then comes Maybe Happy Ending (March 2-21, 2027), the heartwarming original story about human connection that won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical. Spring closes with the legendary The Phantom of the Opera (April 14 – May 9, 2027), one of the most iconic musicals ever written, returning to thrill a new generation of Cleveland audiences.
Rounding out the season are Buena Vista Social Club (July 27 – Aug. 15, 2027) and the massively anticipated Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (Aug. 24 – Sept. 12, 2027), the stage production that continues the wizarding world story as Harry and Draco Malfoy’s sons forge an unexpected bond.
