Rain Kills the Series Finale — And Travis Kelce’s First Pitch
No baseball in Cleveland today, folks. Sunday’s series finale between the Guardians and Tigers at Progressive Field was postponed due to the threat of inclement weather in Northeast Ohio. And it wasn’t just the ballgame that got washed out — Mother Nature wrecked havoc on Travis Kelce’s scheduled first pitch before Sunday’s game.
The Call Came Fast
The final game of the weekend series was postponed because of the threat of inclement weather, 40 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. The rescheduled game will start at 2:10 p.m. EDT as part of a day-night doubleheader on Sept. 4, with the regular game at 7:10 p.m. EDT.
It was sunny when the teams and umpire crew met, but weather radar showed a large cell of rain and thunderstorms coming in from the West and lasting for at least five hours. Nobody was taking chances — and honestly, the right call.

Look, it stings to miss a game — especially with Gavin Williams (9-3) locked and loaded to take the mound. But the Guardians are sitting pretty atop the AL Central, and September baseball at Progressive Field just got a little more interesting.
